When an iron becomes a dryer.
Ironing is one of the oldest methods for removing residual moisture from clothes. If the fabric can withstand high temperatures, lay the slightly damp fabric on an ironing board and iron it without setting it to a high temperature. Don’t worry about the steam that is released: it’s not coming from the iron, but from the water left in the clothes evaporating with the heat.
However, moderation is key: never use a higher temperature than indicated on the garment’s label, as wet fibers can be more sensitive to washing. This method works particularly well for cotton shirts and T-shirts because, in addition to drying, it instantly eliminates creases, leaving the garment ready to wear straight from the ironing board.
These simple tricks not only save time, but also make moving around your home during the winter less stressful. With a little attention and careful use of our appliances, we can avoid musty odors and long waits.
