I didn’t believe it. But when I looked it up online and started reading, I realized she was right. These seeds have long been considered a protective amulet against evil and disease. They were placed under mattresses, on doorsteps, and even sewn into pillows to “keep jealousy and bad dreams away from the home.”
At first I was scared: had someone done it secretly, without my knowledge? But then I remembered that my grandmother had come to visit me a month earlier. She was a firm believer in ancient traditions and always said that “a young couple’s home should smell of kindness, not fear.”

I was cleaning the bedroom. Everything was going normally until I noticed a strange pile of tiny black seeds in the corner of the bed.

I froze. At first I thought they were insect eggs, maybe cockroaches or something. My heart was pounding, and a cold shiver ran down my spine.
I carefully collected the seeds on a sheet of paper and examined them.
