AstraZeneca admitted it: “Yes, it’s true…” (1 / 2)

During the  COVID-19 pandemic , the AstraZeneca vaccine has emerged as one of the key weapons in the fight against the virus. However, the British pharmaceutical company recently faced a new court case, acknowledging for the first time that its drug can cause a rare side effect, potentially causing very serious complications.

According to Repubblica, a lawsuit filed in a London court has revealed a shocking truth, clearly admitted by the pharmaceutical company itself. At least 81 UK citizens have died from a side effect that left them incurable:  blood clots  and resulting thrombosis.

Some relatives of these alleged victims of side effects from the AstraZeneca vaccine have filed a lawsuit to shed light on the causes of  their loved ones’ deaths . In court, AstraZeneca’s lawyers admitted the possibility that the vaccine could cause such complications.  “For reasons still unknown, the vaccine can cause thrombosis ,” the lawyers for the pharmaceutical company reportedly candidly admitted, according to Il Messaggero.

This wasn’t the first acknowledgement of potential rare side effects associated with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Already in April 2021, the product information had been updated to include the possibility of thrombosis with  thrombocytopenic syndrome , albeit in very rare cases. However, the recent court admission marks a turning point, as it is the first time the company has acknowledged this possibility in a court of law.

It’s important to note that, despite these potentially life-threatening side effects,  the World Health Organization  (WHO) has reiterated that the benefits of vaccination with AstraZeneca far outweigh the risks, especially in countries affected by the pandemic. According to the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences, the risk of developing these side effects is approximately 1 in 10,000.
