9 signs on your feet that could indicate liver problems

Persistent itching under the soles of the feet.
Constant itching, especially at night? This could be a sign of waste products that have accumulated in the body and that the liver has difficulty removing. These substances can irritate the skin, causing unpleasant, even intense sensations.

Are you experiencing blueness without shock?
Do you notice bruises on your legs that don’t look like they were caused by a blow or a false movement? This could indicate a bleeding disorder, as the liver produces proteins needed for proper blood clotting.

Unusual redness on the sole of the foot

An abnormally red, almost spiky discoloration of the soles of the feet may indicate chronic liver disease. Similar to palmar erythema, this symptom can also be seen on the feet in cases of hormonal imbalances related to the liver.

Striped or distorted nails: a sign you can’t ignore
White horizontal stripes, crooked or rounded nails that look like deformed glass? These abnormalities can indicate an overloaded liver that is struggling to perform its essential functions.

Burning sensation at the end of the day
Uncomfortable warmth in your legs, especially in the evening while resting? This could be a sign of peripheral nerve damage, which is sometimes associated with liver disease. This phenomenon is called peripheral neuropathy.

Dry skin and cracked heels
Rough skin, cracked heels, persistent dryness? These signs may indicate inadequate removal of toxins by the liver, which affects the quality of the skin, including the skin on the feet.

Yellowing of the feet or nails

A light yellow color on the soles of the feet or nails can be a reflection of the accumulation of bile pigments. This often occurs when the liver can no longer remove them properly.

Visible veins on the top of the foot
Protruding veins, especially on the back of the foot? This can indicate excessive pressure in the veins, which is sometimes associated with portal hypertension, a consequence of liver disease.
